Woodward 5464-654 Discrete Output Module

Functional Description

The 5464-654 is a Discrete Output Module developed by Woodward. It provides discrete outputs to the prime mover from field wiring. Each Discrete Output (DO) module can independently control outputs in response to CPU module commands. These modules do not have potentiometers and do not require calibration. A module can be replaced with another module of the same part number without modifications. The module offers two different FTM I/O configurations.

Installation

• The modules are inserted into card guides in the control's chassis and connected to the motherboard.
• Two screws, one at the top and one at the bottom of the front panel, secure the modules in place.
• Two handles at the top and bottom of the module toggle outward to move the modules out just enough for the boards to disengage from the motherboard connectors.

This module receives digital data from the CPU and generates relay driver signals that are not isolated. The system's discrete output modules interface with one or more Woodward Relay Modules. These relays' contacts connect to the field wiring. The relays require a separate 24 Vdc power source, which this module does not provide. Sufficient current can be sourced from a multi-output Main Power Supply or a single-output Main Power Supply. Each module links to a Relay module via one low-density discrete cable, which daisy chains to a second module via another low-density cable.
