Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd. ("Cosmo Oil") and Yokogawa Electric Co., Ltd. ("Yokogawa Electric") announced that Cosmo Oil is partnering with Yokogawa Electric Solutions Services, a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric, and Yokogawa Electric Digital to promote the digital operation of Cosmo Oil's refineries.
In order to use robots for factory inspections and maintenance in the future, Cosmo Oil and Yokogawa Electric are conducting concept validation tests using quadruped robots at Cosmo Oil's Shiri City refinery. In addition to conducting a performance evaluation of the quadruped robot in the temporarily closed factory facilities of the refinery, both parties also confirmed the challenges of on-site application and selected the points that need to be verified to prepare for the on-site use of the robot. In the future, the two companies will accelerate the digital transformation of refineries through robot driven inspection and maintenance measures.
