One hundred years later, ABB has introduced a revolutionary innovation in Xiamen, China, enabling safe and energy-efficient DC power systems.
On January 9, the ABB Electrical Innovation Week 2024 was held in Xiamen, and the world's first solid state circuit breaker built by ABB that meets the IEC 60947-2 standard was officially released at the event. Swiss Ambassador to China Bernard Brunswick attended the event.

According to ABB: solid-state circuit breakers through semiconductor power electronic devices to switch on and off the power supply circuit, and compared with traditional circuit breakers, ABB solid-state circuit breakers detect and respond to short circuit faults 100 times faster, 100 times longer service life.

Experts pointed out that compared with the AC distribution system, the DC distribution system has fewer conversion links, high energy efficiency and good power quality. Around DC power distribution, ABB showed a series of solutions including DC circuit breakers, DC switch panels, DC intelligent lighting, which can be applied to energy storage, photovoltaic, uninterruptible power supply, rail transit and other fields.
